So, I'm 30...

Some of you may remember me mentioning The Challenge my brother and I were undertaking.  A month or so ago we decided that (for reasons I shall leave unnamed here,) we should postpone The Challenge for awhile.  My apologies to the blogosphere.  This is in keeping with my blog's new primary themes of disappointments and broken promises.  (P.S., Santa's bringing you all ponies this year, I swear.)

In other news, I'm 30 now.  My deep thoughts for the occasion: meh, whatever.

Happy National Novel-Writing Month, everybody!  That's right, it's November -- time to write a novel.

(Hint to my brother: it's not too late to completely change what you're doing for your big project.  Really.)

57 Days

Including today, I count 57 days left in the Challenge.  I guess I should really get to work on that, huh?

I've put in a fair amount of time on it, really.  Just... not in the last week.

64 Days Left in the Challenge

So, there are something like 64 days left in the Challenge.  We're over a third of the way through.  As everyone knows, the first third of a project is planning, so I'd say I'm probably ahead of schedule.

Just 97 days to go...

I believe I finally have defined the full scope of my project.  You might think: hey, a big project, this seems bloggable.  But, no.  James and I thought it would add to the motivation a bit if we kept our projects to ourselves until the deadline. 

My project may not be a cannon.  It may not even be a baby.  But it should be grandiose enough to win the Challenge.  Just so long as it isn't too grandiose to get finished on time.  There aren't even a hundred days left.

3 Month Create-Off

Near the end of 2006, I am going to turn 30.  As it so happens, so will my twin brother.  Since this is only going to happen once, James decided to issue me a very broad challenge. 

I was just realizing we only have about 1/4th of a year left before our 30th Birthday! I've decided to challenge you to make something cooler than whatever I make. We'll unveil on our 30th Birthday. Whoever makes the coolest thing wins.

So, there you have it.  Create anything.  Do any sort of creative effort.  It could be written, or artistic, or musical, or computer programming.  Or anything.  I have a tendency to let my hobbies propagate unchecked.  This is an opportunity to pick one thing, and see what I can do with it in the next three months. 

Needless to say, it's not so much about winning, as it is about focusing and trying to accomplish something.  (That's just what I'm saying so that James doesn't get all upset when I destroy him.  Yes, I am a good brother, thinking about his feelings like that.)
