Recently, I picked up a white Fender Precision Bass with a maple neck. Today, I finally received a black pickguard in the mail and got it installed. So, at last, I am able to play mediocre bass with the same visual stylings that I normally reserve for playing mediocre video game bass. That's right -- it looks just like my Rock Band bass controller.
...but I might have gotten a little off track, say, 78 days ago.

I played Rock Band for the first time over New Years. I played bass, on easy, and I still got this giant blister. I still give the game a thumbs up.

Ok, I am going to indulge in one last Star Wars post. (I can't do more than three posts in a row about the same thing. It angers the blog gods. ) By request, here's a picture that includes Lando Calrissian, along with Han, Luke, Leia, Lobot, and a squad of rebel troopers. That's 200 points right there.
The thing about Star Wars games -- and there have been a lot of them -- is that for a many people, they have a certain touch of magic. They start out with a much-loved series of movies, with all the flavor and excitement that's wrapped up in them, and so they have a big head start over any other game.
What I'm saying is, it's important to remember the movies -- it adds much to the appreciation of the game. Here, again, is the climax of the original trilogy. Watch it now, and I swear to you, you'll see more power and emotion in it than you remembered.
I received a few last Star Wars miniatures in the mail today. That's the last I'm buying.... at least until my next credit card bill is sent to me and I pay it off. :P

This first one represents some of the Imperial forces on Endor in Return of the Jedi. It's a 200 point army. Two AT-STs, eight Scout Troopers, and a Scout Trooper on a speeder bike.
This, then, would be the heroes of Endor. Chewbacca, Wicket, R2-D2, C-3PO, and a mess of ewoks, some on gliders. 150 points.
Tusken Raiders. The Sandpeople. Old Ben Kenobi scared away a handful of them. But what if there were more? Here's 200 points worth.

I had the chance to play a game of Star Wars Miniatures recently, and I was favorably impressed. I have since picked up a few of these myself. And by "a few" I mean quite a few. Quite a few, indeed.
Here we have pictured a large Imperial army. It contains 4 AT-STs, Lord Vader, the Emperor, 2 Sith Witches, 5 Royal Guards, and a total of 24 Stormtroopers (including 2 officers, 2 commanders, and 2
heavily armed troopers.) This totals 577 points, and is a lot more than you'd usually play a game with.
It reminds me of when I was a kid playing with action figures except there are rules, these figures are smaller, and I can afford more of them. :P Good ol' Star Wars.
Star Wars Miniatures is a randomly-packaged, collectible game. As such, it can be a little insidious. I'd really like a Rancor monster to go with my large mob of Gamorrean Guards. Do I give up and buy one straight up for $40? Or do I buy "just one more" booster pack, and hope to get one? You see how it goes.

(Not that I had any whiskey when I was there. Although Maker's Mark is a-ok in my book.)
It was good to see Jesse again. Among other things, we played that Star Wars collectible miniature game. Honestly, it made me reminisce about when I was a kid playing with Star Wars action figures. I'm not positive if we were using 100% of the rules, but as we played it the rules were nice and simple and didn't get in the way. Refreshingly simple, I'd say. It uses a map, which is nice. And each figure had a card, but the cards didn't have too much on them -- four stats and some special rules. The special rules we used all seemed pretty clear at first reading. It's unfortunate I always feel so ambivalent about the collectible games they sell randomly. Only time will tell if I ultimately break down and buy some of these.
I saw this over at my friend's blog. I took the test, and it likens me to TJ Cloutier. I have no idea about any of the results or who TJ Cloutier is, but I like the $7.5 million part. The results:
