Well, that was a great election day! It's odd to think it's been twelve years since I saw a Presidential election go how I wanted it to. The end of the disaster that is the Bush Presidency is in sight. It's hard to exaggerate just what a travesty it's been. He scrapped treaties. He threw out the Geneva Conventions. He illegally spied on Americans. He gutted environmental standards. Yes, I'll say it: he was vacationing when he should have been going over the memos about how Bin Laden wanted to attack America. He also fabricated an excuse to launch the Iraq War, which has killed tens of thousands, incited hatred for America, and destroyed our economy. What good can you say about Bush? At least he didn't nuke anything?
Ahhh, but, soon, W will be behind us. I was a strong supporter of Obama this election. I know I don't agree with the man on everything. I'm sure he'll do some things I don't like. But still, I feel confident it will be a strong, refreshing difference from the last eight years.
Here's one last interesting nugget about the Presidential campaign. Now that it's over, even Fox News feels free to tell us about Sarah Palin's ineptitude. According to one reporter,
"There was great concern in the McCain campaign that Sarah Palin lacked a degree of knowledgability necessary to be a running mate, a Vice President, and a heartbeat away from the Presidency. We are told by folks that she didn't know what countries were in NAFTA (the North American Free Trade Agreement; that being Canada, the U.S., and Mexio.) We're told that she didn't understand that Africa was a continent rather than a... country just within itself."
I mean, I know everyone was making jokes about her lack of foreign policy experience, but she didn't know Africa was a continent? Alaska, I hope you guys don't have any difficult problems for a couple years...
